# Enabling the Interface (API Access)

RZBneo® provides an active interface that enables data exchange with other software. In principle, RZBneo® always serves as the data source, meaning data can only be retrieved but not transmitted to RZBneo® for storage in the database. The reason for this is that the data inventory should not be automatically modifiable due to legal requirements.

❗ The interface functionality is a paid additional option and must be activated. Please contact Support at [support@rzbneo.de](mailto:support@rzbneo.de?subject=Anfrage%20Schnittstelle%20RZBneo).

Once the interface functionality has been activated by Support, you will find an API user in the user table. Permissions for this API user can be defined in the permissions table in the usual way. This allows you to control which data an external software can access. 

The access credentials for the API user, which must be communicated to the interface partner, will be sent to you by email after the functionality has been activated by Support.
